SCHOOL BACKGROUND
Background of SMK TOH INDERA WANGSA AHMAD (SMK TIWA) BATU GAJAH, PERAK
SMK TOH INDERA WANGSA AHMAD is located approximately 1 KM from Batu Gajah town to Tanjung Tualang. The school was set up on January 2, 1965. At the beginning of the school, she was elected at Sultan Yusuf Secondary School, Batu Gajah with 3 classes beginning with 8 teachers. At that time the school was better known by the name Batu Gajah Junior High School which only had three classes using the English introduction. In January 1966 the number of classes increased to 15 (with 20 teachers) and three classes of them using the introduction of Bahasa Melayu.
In 1967 the school moved to its own building in Batu 1, Tanjung Tualang Road and its class has increased to 23 classes in two morning sessions (Form 2 and 3) and afternoon (Class Transit and Form 1) with its multi-racial students. The building was officially opened on 14 March 1969 by the Minister of Education Malaysia (at that time) namely YB En. Mohd Khir bin Johari.
In 1990 the school received three classes of four-grade students and the first group was in the 1991 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia Examination. In 1994 the school received an additional three-storey building annually and in 1996 the school received the entry of students Science.
On 16.2.1998, the school was upgraded to grade A and on 1 June 2001 the school changed its name to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Toh Indera Wangsa Ahmad and was inaugurated by Mr. Hj. Abdullah Othman, Kinta District Education Officer. In 2003, the school has acquired a two computer laboratory building and the next year the elective subjects of Information Technology are offered to form four students. In 2009, the school received acceptance of Form 1 Special Class Class 23 students, 2010 (22 persons) and 2011 (22 persons) and 2012 (21 persons). In 2011 the first Special Plan student has been in the Junior High School Exam with 100% passing and four students got A in all subjects.
The increase in admission to the school causes the school to plan its physical development and in 2012 SMK Toh Indera Wangsa Ahmad has acquired a new building of a cabin with six classrooms. The school is also planning to build a surau for the needs of pupils to carry out Islamic education activities.
SMK TOH INDERA WANGSA AHMAD's management now is concerned with the physical, academic, co-curricular and behavioral needs of the students. Various programs are designed to achieve school vision and mission. School Resource Center has been given priority in its development as well as making PSS a knowledge park by creating various reading angles for students to be exposed to information and knowledge.
The Academic Excellence Program is the main activity of this school as well as the excellence program in the field of co-curriculum, perseverance and cheerfulness. As a result, SMK TOH INDERA WANGSA AHMAD has achieved a glorious history in academia with improved achievements in the PMR and SPM examinations. In this school's co-curricular field has won sport and martial arts and some of its students represent areas in soccer, handball and cross-country matches.
The number of academic staff this year (2012) is 103 persons while the support staff is 13. The number of students was 1538.
